Northpoint exotic dancing club is closing its doors for the first time in its history as the owners of a popular nightclub in the north of England prepare to sell the club.
The club’s former owners, who are from the US, had planned to keep the place open but have decided to close it, a spokesman for Northpoint said.
The announcement was made by the club’s owner, Paul Haddad, in a statement.
Northpoint has hosted hundreds of events for over 40 years, according to the club website.
The owners had hoped to continue running the venue, which opened in 2001, and have said they would make the decision to close in the coming weeks.
“We have decided that it is time for us to close the doors on this iconic venue,” the statement said.

NorthPoint was open to the public until May 2019, when its owners sold it to the owners from a local company.
North Pole, a US-based dance music venue, is also shutting down in March.
“North Pole has been a part of the fabric of the community since the 1970s,” a statement said at the time.
“It has provided the backdrop for many of our biggest festivals and festivals for many years.”
North Pole dance club closed in April 2019, but was not the only venue in the area to close down.
The BBC understands that the club has closed down a number of other venues in recent years.
One venue in Leeds, Leeds, was the first to close, in June 2018.
Northpole, which was closed to the press in the 1990s, has hosted concerts by acts including David Bowie, the Rolling Stones, the Eagles, Queen and Muse.
North pole’s last act in the UK was The Who in December 2018.
Other venues closed in the same way: The North Pole in Leeds closed in May 2019; North Pole Dance Club in Woking, Essex, closed in December 2019; and the North Pole on North London in March 2020.
North Poles sister club, North Pole Music Hall, also closed in June 2019.
It is not the first venue to close over the years.
In 2013, The North Poles owner bought the North American venue Blackbird, which he later sold to a US company, but the venue still hosted events.
Northwest Music Hall was also closed, in 2016, and the venue had a “limited number of” events held at the venue.
The North pole dance club had been a fixture in the city for over 30 years, the BBC’s Tom Glynn reports.
North point dance club in Leeds was closed in September 2018.
It had hosted shows by David Bowie and the Rolling Eagles.
The venue was open from 11pm to 6am.
North station dance club opened in 1993 and was the scene for many local festivals, such as the Leeds festival and the Leeds International Festival.
It closed in January 2018.
The company that owns North Pole said it had been “a long-time supporter of North Point and its community”.
“This decision has been taken in the best interests of North Pole’s patrons, the venue and the city of Leeds,” the company said.
